Why contractors recycle on site here
Recycling King services civil and demolition projects across New South Wales, including Sydney, Western Sydney, the Central Coast, Newcastle and Wollongong. We bring the RM 70GO! 2.0 compact crusher to site to recover concrete, brick, rock and asphalt into reusable road base, so contractors keep material on the job rather than trucking it out through Sydney traffic.
Western Sydney in particular has a heavy pipeline of civil, infrastructure and demolition work, and on-site crushing is well suited to it: high volumes of concrete and rock, tight programs and real pressure on disposal and haulage costs. Crushing in place produces compactable base on site, cuts truck movements and lowers the cost of imported aggregate on large NSW projects.
Sydney sits in the New South Wales Metropolitan Levy Area, where the waste levy is $180.20 per tonne for 2026-27, well above any Queensland rate. Add a gate fee and a truck through Sydney traffic and clean concrete becomes one of the most expensive things on a demolition site to get rid of. Crushing it in place removes the levy, the haul out and the purchase of replacement base in one move, billed per tonne and weighed on the machine's onboard belt scale, typically around $10 per tonne and as low as $8 per tonne on higher-tonnage jobs, with every job individually quoted.
Western Sydney is where volume makes the arithmetic easiest. A crusher has to cover its mobilisation before it starts saving anyone money, and the civil and infrastructure jobs through the western corridor clear that threshold comfortably. The same Metropolitan Levy Area rate applies here as across the rest of Sydney, so every tonne that stays on the job is a tonne that never attracts it, and the base you would have imported is already sitting in front of you.
Central Coast projects sit far enough from Sydney's receiving facilities that cartage often costs more than the gate fee itself, and every hour a truck spends on the M1 is charged whether it is full or not. The Central Coast is inside the Metropolitan Levy Area, so there is no regional discount to soften the disposal bill. Crushing on site turns the longest line in the budget into the shortest, because the material never leaves. Getting plant there is straightforward, since the RM 70GO! 2.0 travels on a standard float with no permits, escorts or pilot vehicles.
Newcastle and the surrounding Hunter jobs mix industrial demolition with civil and subdivision work, so the feed ranges from heavily reinforced slab through to clean excavation rock. Reinforcement is not a reason to cart material away: the steel is liberated during crushing and pulled out by the onboard magnet, and the two-stage Komplet Krokodile and RM 70GO! 2.0 setup handles oversized and heavily reinforced concrete that a single machine would turn away. Newcastle also sits in the Metropolitan Levy Area, so disposal carries the full rate.
Wollongong is in the Metropolitan Levy Area as well, and the escarpment means most disposal routes are longer than the distance on a map implies. Work here tends to be civil, industrial and residential redevelopment, producing slab, footing and pavement material that crushes cleanly into compactable base. Where a site is building up levels or replacing imported fill, the crushed product goes straight back into the works rather than onto a truck.
